		<description>I think its a great idea to have business accelerators -- many new businesses just need a little push to grow.  I worked with some family businesses, where the next generation really wanted to make the business take-off.

That said, I worry about the businesses that don&#039;t have funding to even get started and, without  incubators, may never be realized.  It seems these are a major source of innovation and should also be nurtured.</description>

I agree with your assessment - time will tell whether the programs that brand themselves accelerators are truly embodying the principles of what it means to successfully accelerate nascent business concepts.  The thought leaders in this space (Y Combinator, TechStars, DreamIt Ventures, etc.) have shown that when you get the formula right, a rate of success that exceeds the typical startup success rates is possible.  Hopefully those at the university level will take note of what makes these programs as successful as they are and work to create the same climate within their programs.</description>
